The Smoky Mermaid Restaurant & Bar opened its' doors on April 17th, 1998. We are regarded as one of Belize's best restaurants, offering an array of fine dining. We are the only individually owned and operated restaurant that can boast being open every day of the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Through the years we have planned weddings, banquets, parties, events, and even fashion shows. Coupled with all of this we are notorious for our work with the Red Cross, hosting an annual benefit dinner in order to raise funds for the community. The Smoky mermaid has been instrumental in the TV world as well, as we had our own cooking show, called "Cooking with the Smoky Mermaid".
This family owned and operated restaurant has been featured in magazines, television and id highly promoted on radio as well. We were fortunate enough to have Ms Barbara Fairchild, the editor in Chief of "Bon Appetite" Magazine contact us for our famous CRUSTED SNAPPER recipe, which was published in the March issue 2001. In 2004, our head chef won the prestigious BTB competition, "Taste of Belize", as TOP CHEF. More recent activity included the Travel Channel's Passport to Latin America, when Samantha Brown and her crew were filming in Belize in 2007, where they shot a segment at the restaurant.
There have been many TV Commercials fimed at the Mermaid, and many events planned with us. We even have a reputation for catering to and serving celebrities through the years. Our restaurant has had the pleasure of serving Julia Robberts, Benjamin Bratt, Tanya Stevens, Vibes Cartel, Samantha Brown, Andre Asanto, Tiffany Pollard (aka Miss New York), and Regis Philbin; just to name a few.
The Smoky Mermaid has always valued our customers, from the coffee drinkers to the event ploanners. We are here to serve and cater to ALL of our customers and have an extremely hight regard for Customer Service.
